The Master’s program in Geomatics for Environmental Monitoring (GEM) provides in-depth knowledge in the precise collection, analysis, and visualization of spatial data.

This program offers a comprehensive education delivered by four leading institutes at the University of Stuttgart. Fundamental knowledge is supplemented by practical, real-life projects that integrate geodetic technologies into environmental sciences. Students benefit from hands-on learning in small classes, encouraging close interaction with professors and colleagues. Core competences include:

  • Application of geospatial technologies for environmental monitoring
  • Use of satellite geodesy, remote sensing, and hydrogeodesy in real-world scenarios
  • Processing and interpretation of complex geospatial data

Graduates are equipped with strong technical and scientific expertise to work in both research and applied professional contexts. They gain proficiency in the use of advanced geospatial technologies such as remote sensing, geoinformatics, environmental cartography, and stochastic modeling to support environmental monitoring and analysis.
