Learn - Exchange - Celebrate: 35 Years Mauerfall Event Report!
Following an evening of 80s music and talks by the journalist Rosie Goldsmith and writer John Kampfner, the students learned all about the division of Germany, the building of the Berlin Wall and the events that lead to the end of the division and fall of the Wall from historian, Dr Hanno Balz, from a political as well as cultural perspective with the aid of an immersive 360 digital wall. There followed a special graffiti workshop with artist James Stocke and video testimonials from Zeitzeug*innen that experienced the events of 1989 first-hand. On Saturday, some of the students also attended a workshop at the Imperial War Museum.
We would like to thank all cooperating partners, such as the German Embassy, the Goethe-Institut and everyone else that participated in this series of events for making it an enlightening, moving and unforgettable experience.
