After the success of German Week in 2025, we invite you to join us once again for a week-long celebration of the German language and all the opportunities it brings! The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), alongside the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany London and the Goethe-Institut UK, invites you to take part in Hashtag#ShoutOutForGerman – a campaign highlighting the importance of German in education, careers, and cultural exchange. Posts can range from showcasing your school activities, favourite German words, travel memories, or even a clip of you dancing to a viral German song. Whether it’s a quick shout-out to your favourite German teacher, an homage to German traditions or your favourite German TV show, anything goes and will highlight the impact of German in classrooms, on campuses, and beyond. Last week, we welcomed to London the new cohort of DAAD scholarship holders studying in the UK and Ireland for our annual ‘Welcome Seminar’ at Woburn House. The Welcome Seminar provides an essential opportunity for scholarship holders to network with one another, hear from representatives of the DAAD office in London, and share impressions of their university experience so far at their institutions in the UK & Ireland. We would like to thank Dr Hans Josef Linkens for opening the seminar, to former scholarship holder, Mel Jahr, for giving an informative talk about life in the UK as a German student, and to Carolyn Sowa from UK Council for International Student Affairs, who spoke on the fantastic advisory services available to international students provided by UKCISA. Another highlight was an informative political panel discussion about ongoing UK-German relations, post Kensington Treaty. A massive thanks to Dr Jannike Wachowiak and Dr Ed Turner for taking part in this enlightening discussion. We wish all our scholarship holders the best of luck with their studies and hope that they have a fantastic stay in the UK and Ireland.

RISE Professional offers summer research internships in Germany to Master’s and Ph.D. students from USA, Canada, Great Britain or Ireland at companies and non-university research institutions with strong relations to industry.
